International Furniture and Decoration (Hong Kong) Association (IFHK) announced that with effect on 15 March 2010, the name of the Association will be formally changed to Hong Kong Furniture Trade Association(HKFA) . The announcement was made at a gala dinner celebrating the 20th anniversary of IFHK.
IFHK was founded in 1991 as a non-profitable organization. Over the past 2 decades, IFHK keeps growing and boasts of over 200 member companies in the present time with the support from the furniture industry in China and Hong Kong and is now one of the leading furniture trade organization in Asia.
Organizing or co-organizing furniture trade exhibitions is one of the core activities of IFHK. Over the years, IFHK involved in organizing large international furniture trade exhibition in Shanghai, Chengdu, Dalian, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Dongguan. In December 2001, joining hands with Dongguan Famous Furniture Association, IFHK starts co-organizing International Famous Furniture Fair (Dongguan) in Houjie. This collaboration is regarded as the water-shred event in the development of furniture industry in China and helps transforming Famous Furniture Fair into a leading furniture show in China and the world.
IFHK is also the mastermind behind the "Hong Kong Furniture Wee" in mainland China with the support from Chinese government at all levels. "Hong Kong Furniture Week" is held successfully in major cities like Shenyang, Wuhan, Dailian, Beijing, Hangzhou.
Promoting the exchange of furniture industry in China and its overseas counterparts is another mission of IFHK. Each year, IFHK brings missions or delegations to countries like Italy, Germany, Japan and Singapore to keep up with the trends of international furniture circle. On the other hand, IFHK is also active in receiving international furniture companies and designers and bridge the communication with furniture industry in China.
